HOUSTON - The Jackson State Lady Tigers (20-6) displayed their championship-caliber skills to defeat Texas Southern (5-21) at HP&E Arena in Houston, Texas. 

Maya Crump posted a game-high 23 points, and Andriana Avent added 19 as Jackson State dominated with a scoring clinic.

The visitors raced out to a 22-12 lead over TSU by holding the home team to 22.2% shooting in the first quarter.   

JSU continued to baffle Texas Southern with tremendous defensive pressure to extend its lead 46-24 at halftime.  

Zakiya Avent scored 12 points, and Maya Crump and Ti'lan Boler each posted 9 points in the first half.

Tatayana Clayburne was Texas Southern's leading scorer with 9 points, but the Lady Tigers were limited to 21.2% shooting be1101fore halftime. TSU was living and dying from beyond the arc, hitting only 3 of 17 shots for 17.6%. 

After intermission, Jackson State continued to control the tempo, second chance points, and scoring in the paint. At the end of 3 quarters, Jackson State expanded its lead to 30 points, 72-42.   

The most significant advantage for the Jackson State Lady Tigers ballooned to 44 points as Texas Southern failed to cut into the overwhelming margin. Texas Southern was forced to shoot and miss from outside as JSU's tenacious defense was impenetrable. 

Jackson State overpowered TSU in the final stanza 29 to 9, cruised to a 101-51 victory, and remains undefeated in SWAC action.
