The Jacksonville Jaguars made the biggest splash in the 2025 NFL Draft. They traded with the Cleveland Browns and selected Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter with the second overall pick. The team made it clear they plan to play the former Colorado star on both sides of the ball. Regardless of whether you think it will work or not, it will be must-see TV. The Jaguars know that Hunter can put fans in seats, and they are giving fans every opportunity to get a look at their new star.

Jacksonville Jaguars Make Rookie Minicamp Public

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookie minicamp is set to begin on Friday and run through the weekend. While most teams close this off to the public, the Jaguars are inviting their fans to come check out their newest player. Fans do have to sign up as space is limited, but the team wants to get fans buzzing about their newest star. Rookie minicamps usually aren’t very exciting as they are meant to get the new players acclimated to the team’s coaching staff, but the Jaguars want to make it an event.

Getting fans excited about the season is a good idea. While the team wants to win, they also want to sell tickets. Travis Hunter is one of the players who can do that. GM James Gladstone made that clear in the post-draft press conference.

“Yeah, that’s an interesting one because we hadn’t touched base with him. We had touched base with his agents, his reps just to get a pulse for what was going to unfold over the course of the first four picks with the idea that we were sitting at five, but nonetheless, it’s very easy to feel that Travis has gravity.

When he walks into a room, the light turns on, regardless of if the electricity is actually, in fact, switched up. That was a moment that definitely resonated with us and his engagement with our coaching staff, the questions that he was asking. As we were walking through some of his film and some of the install specific to the plays that we run, it was really telling of the mind that he has, the curiosity, the interest and growth.”

Final Thoughts

This is a good move by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Teams are nothing without their fans. This gives fans the ability to see the player they hope will be a franchise cornerstone in his first team appearance.
