Mary G. Montgomery standout, Devin Pettway is one of the most complete linebacker prospects in the state.
The 6-foot plus, rangy defender has been a centerpiece of the Vikings’ defense this season, providing leadership, toughness and versatility. His production is starting to attract the attention of some of the biggest programs in the country.
Despite being 100 percent committed to Jacksonville State, Pettway revealed the University of Alabama has started showing interest in him.
Earlier this week, Crimson Tide defensive line coach Freddie Roach and members of the Alabama staff stopped by MGM, asking about Pettway and letting him know they were in the process of breaking down his film. They told him they’ll be monitoring his play for the rest of the season.
For Pettway, who grew up in a household full of Alabama fans, the interest means a great deal.
“My Dad is a die-hard Alabama fan, so I’m sure he’s very excited,” Pettway told Touchdown Alabama. “I remain 100 percent committed to Jacksonville State, but the Alabama interest is very intriguing.”
Pettway is known for his sideline-to-sideline range, football IQ and ability to diagnose plays quickly. He can blitz off the edge, drop back in coverage, and plug the run with equal efficiency.
As the season continues, Pettway’s recruitment could take an interesting turn.
