The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Travis Hunter as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The rookie star is likely to play a dual role at the cornerback and wide receiver positions in the upcoming season.
Arik Armstead joined the Jaguars last season after donning the San Francisco 49ers' colors for nine years. During an episode of the "First Thing First" show, one of the hosts asked the Jaguars' DE to share some insights on Hunter.
Chris Broussard said that it's somewhat unfathomable to see a player who can play both ways, and asked Armstead if Hunter really has a chance to excel on both sides.
"Yeah, it does seem impossible until you're around Travis," Armstead said. "I think one of the most impressive things about him is that he's out there, he's doing it. It's hot in Jacksonville, like we are sweating, and this dude doesn't break a sweat."
"He's smooth, he's very elastic, He's everything that just comes natural to him, just a natural-born athlete."
The 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year also revealed interesting details about the Colorado Buffaloes product's training sessions.
"When you look at playing both sides of the football, his schedule is crazy. Two days, he is on offense, and then he pops up in our defensive meetings, and then he's out there with our color jerseys on," Armstead said.
"First day he's playing defense, makes a crazy interception and then goes on offense scoring touchdowns. So, I'm really excited to have him as a teammate, and he brings a lot to Jacksonville, not just who he is as a player, but who he is as a person," Armstead concluded.
The former 49ers' star added that Hunter is bringing a lot of excitement to the city, and people are going to want to watch him play.
The Jaguars traded their 2026 first-round pick and some more draft capital for the 2nd overall pick in this year's NFL Draft. The bar is set high for the rookie, and he will have to manage the physical demands of the dual role to live up to the expectations.
