INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Jake Paul didn’t hold back after Dana White strategically unveiled the blockbuster lineup for UFC 329 at the exact moment Francis Ngannou made his walk to the cage Saturday night at Intuit Dome.
White jumped on Instagram Live during UFC Fight Night 276 in Las Vegas to announce the UFC’s International Fight Week card for July 11, headlined by Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway 2.
The timing immediately grabbed headlines across the combat sports world and overshadowed portions of Most Valuable Promotions’ debut MMA event, which featured Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano in the main event.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Paul mocked White and accused the UFC boss of intentionally trying to hijack attention away from MVP’s historic night. “Oh, the cokehead is back,” Paul said.
“That’s cool, bro. Drop it during our event. It doesn’t matter. That just shows how pressed they are little insecure boys trying to piggyback off our event and try to put some news over top of us. It’s not going to work, buddy.”
Paul has increasingly positioned himself and MVP as legitimate competition to the UFC, especially after the success of Netflix-backed combat sports events and the company’s growing MMA ambitions.

While Paul came out swinging verbally, MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian took a more measured and possibly sarcastic tone. Bidarian praised McGregor’s return while simultaneously thanking White for the timing of the announcement. “On the flip side, I’m super excited Conor is back,” Bidarian said. “He’s one of the most engaging characters in the sport. I think it’s good for the sport.” Bidarian then doubled down on the possibility of future business between MVP and McGregor. “The biggest fight outside of Paul-Tyson globally is Paul-McGregor. Hopefully Conor is back and hopefully these two run it in boxing and MMA and we shatter their records all over again.”
He closed with one final shot at the UFC timing. “Welcome back, Conor and thank you Dana for bringing him back during the Francis Ngannou walkout. That’s beautiful.”
Saturday’s sequence added another layer to the growing rivalry between the UFC and MVP. The UFC announcement came:
Meanwhile, MVP scored massive headlines of its own with:
Bidarian’s comments also continued speculation around a potential mega-fight between Conor McGregor and Jake Paul. Paul has openly pursued McGregor for years, while McGregor has repeatedly teased interest in crossover fights outside the UFC.
Now that McGregor officially returns at UFC 329, the possibility of a future boxing or MMA showdown with Paul instantly becomes one of combat sports’ biggest potential money fights.
