Jay Bilas Didn’t Hesitate Naming Which Final Four Team Is Playing The Best Right Now

The first two Final Four spots were set on Saturday as No. 1 seed Florida defeated No. 3 Texas Tech, 84-79, in the West Regional, and No. 1 Duke topped No. 2 Alabama, 85-65, in the East.

So far, two No. 1 seeds have advanced to the Final Four, and the Gators and Blue Devils have done exactly what they were supposed to do: Win.

Before the 2025 NCAA Tournament, college hoops analyst Jay Bilas spoke highly of Florida and mentioned it was the best team in the country.

However, Bilas has changed his tune just a tad after the first Elite Eight games on Saturday.

On Sunday, Bilas spoke about Florida in-depth while mentioning Duke as the team playing the best at this moment.

"I think all of us thought on Selection Sunday, Florida is the best team in the country," Bilas said. "I haven't let go of that thought, although Duke is playing the best right now."

So, while Bilas still loves the Florida team, he admits Duke is "playing the best right now."

Duke blew out No. 2 Alabama by 20, beating a Crimson Tide team that made the Final Four a year ago. Moreover, it marked the second time all year that Alabama did not cross the 70-point threshold. The other came in a 74-64 loss to Ole Miss in January.

Duke's only March Madness game to be decided by single digits was the Sweet 16 win over No. 4 Arizona, 100-93.

Duke has scored 85 points or more in all four games and held three of the four opponents to less than 70 points.

Duke and Florida could meet up in the national title game in a showdown that would be full of star potential.
