Jayden Daniels booed by LSU fans during ‘NFLSU’ segment inside Tiger Stadium

LouisianaSports.net’s Matt Moscona even reported that Daniels and his camp demanded LSU return its copy of the Heisman Trophy he won with the program, although sources later informed On3’s Pete Nakos that Daniels did not specifically request that LSU remove the award.

Following the reported cease-and-desist, Daniels and his No. 5 jersey became one of the biggest running jokes on social media. Fellow former Heisman winner Robert Griffin III called Daniels’ cease and desist letter a ‘colossal mistake’, while ESPN’s Paul Finebaum claimed that he had ‘rarely, if ever, seen a dumber, more senseless move’.

“Obviously there are issues to be worked out between my team and LSU and my hope is that it will get done privately,” Daniels said in a statement. “My sole personal focus is on Commanders’ football. I realize the business of football is unique and I trust this can all be resolved.”

Following Daniels’ request, the Pickett family spoke out on his request that the defensive back not wear the No. 5. During a media opportunity after the cease and desist became public knowledge, Pickett stood firm on the number, claiming it’s both the number he has worn his whole life, and the number he was promised.

“About the number situation: I’ve worn the number my whole life, since I was four years old,” Pickett said. “That’s the number I was promised. I wish Jayden the best, good player, did real good here. That’s all.”

“This right here makes us want to wear the number more,” Pickett’s father Damien told Nola.com. With the drama around the number ongoing, it shouldn’t come as a surprise Daniels was booed in Baton Rouge Saturday night.
