Jeff Tedford Will Not Coach Fresno State in Bowl Game

The Fresno State Bulldogs finished the regular season 8-4 and will play in their third consecutive bowl game this winter. However, the Bulldogs will do so without head coach Jeff Tedford.

Fresno State football released a statement on Friday morning indicating that Tedford was stepping away from the program to "address personal health concerns."

"The entire Fresno State community sends its thoughts and prayers to Coach Tedford and wish him a speedy recovery," Fresno State AD Terry Tumey said in the statement.

In the interim, linebackers coach Tim Skipper will be acting head coach through the bowl game.

Tedford previously stepped away from the Fresno State program in 2019 with heart issues that required a cardiac ablation procedure. Tedford returned prior to the 2022 season.

These factors create an uncertainty with regards Tedford returning after the postseason.

Fresno State will find out which bowl game they play in, along with most of the bowl eligible teams, on Sunday.
