University of Kentucky All-Americans Jensen Castle and Laney Frye have received invitations to compete at the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur for the second year in a row. The tournament will take place at Champions Retreat and Augusta National in Augusta, Georgia, from April 3-6.

The field will consist of 72 women amateurs, including champions from various NCAA, amateur, and junior events, as well as the top-ranking players from the United States on the final 2023 Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings. After 36 holes at Champions Retreat, the top 30 players and ties will advance to the final round at Augusta National.

Despite not making the cut in the previous year, Frye, currently ranked 12th in the U.S. and 46th in the world, is eager to make her mark in this year’s championship. Castle, on the other hand, has made the cut for the past two years and will be making her third consecutive appearance at the ANWA. In 2022, Castle’s best finish was a shared 12th place.

Both Frye and Castle are coming off their best seasons and have set records for their program. With Frye holding the school record for the most rounds in the 60s and Castle in second place, they are well-acquainted with performing on the big stage. Frye earned co-medalist honors in the stroke-play competition at the U.S. Women’s Amateur in 2022, while Castle emerged as the champion of the U.S. Women’s Amateur in 2021.

As the Wildcats gear up for the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, fans can follow the Kentucky women’s golf team on social media and on their website for the latest updates. With their impressive performances and achievements, Castle and Frye are poised to make their mark at this year’s championship.
