Jimmy Horn Jr. has wasted no time making his presence felt in the NFL.
The sixth-round pick of the Carolina Panthers has turned heads with his route-running and playmaking ability. But this is nothing new for the former Colorado standout. Through the early stages of training camp, Horn is emerging as a possible steal of the 2025 NFL Draft.
This Friday’s preseason opener brings more than just another chance to impress. It also serves as a reunion for Horn and Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The Buffs duo remain close friends going into their respective rookie seasons.
On one end, Sanders was the talk of the NFL Draft by sliding to the fifth round. While the hype around Horn was much quieter. However, he's creating buzz of his own.
The two formed a dynamic bond during their time in Boulder, which helped shape colorado’s offense under the leadership of offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur and Coach Prime. Now, they’ll share the field as opponents in their NFL debuts.
“It’s going to be exciting to see him again,” Horn said about Sanders. “We talk here and there, but it’s just going to be good to reunite with him.”
Horn hauled in two touchdowns from Andy Dalton during Carolina's fan scrimmage on Saturday night. Despite the quick attention, Horn remains focused on being a contributor for the Panthers. “I appreciate all the hype and stuff, but I feel still like I haven’t done anything yet,” he said.
For Buffs fans, the Browns-Panthers matchup will provide a first look at the future of two NFL rookies who are expected to make waves.
Kickoff from Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte is set for Friday, August 8 at 7 p.m. ET, with coverage available on NFL+.
