Former New York Jets General Manager Joe Douglas is returning to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he will take on a senior scouting position. The move, which has been reported by NFL.com, brings Douglas back to the organization where he previously held the title of Vice President of Player Personnel from 2016 to 2019.

Douglas spent nearly five years as the Jets’ general manager after being hired in June 2019. His tenure included multiple coaching changes and roster overhauls as the organization attempted to rebuild. While the team did not reach the playoffs under his leadership, Douglas is credited with drafting several key contributors, including 2022 first-round selections Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson, both of whom made an immediate impact and earned league honors.

Before his time in New York, Douglas was part of the Eagles’ front office that helped build the Super Bowl LII championship roster. He played a key role in Philadelphia’s scouting and player evaluation strategies, helping identify talent through the draft and free agency.

In his new role, Douglas is expected to bolster the Eagles’ already strong personnel department. Known for his background in traditional scouting and film evaluation, his return signals a continued emphasis on long-term roster building through the draft.

Douglas brings over 20 years of NFL front office experience to the position, including stops with the Ravens, Bears, Eagles, and Jets. As the league continues its offseason movement, this marks a notable return for a well-regarded figure in NFL scouting circles.
