In their third and final preseason game, the Cleveland Browns ran most of their starters out against the Los Angeles Rams briefly and came away with a 19-17 win.
Cleveland also got its first look at QB Joe Flacco in a game environment, and he delivered. The veteran completed 9-of-10 passes for 71 yards and a touchdown.
That touchdown came on a 15-yard strike to rookie Harold Fannin Jr., a player who may be flying under the radar but has a real chance to carve out a key role for the Browns this season.

“I think he’s going to be a hell of a player and an important piece for us, and it’s good to see him breaking out of his shell a little bit and becoming part of this team,” Flacco said after the game. “You know, to get him a touch there was great.”
Fannin, a third-round pick, is expected to slot in as the No. 2 tight end behind Pro Bowler David Njoku. Cleveland has the flexibility to use both on the field at the same time, with Fannin (and Njoku) also able to line up out wide. He flashed that versatility on his touchdown grab against the Rams.
For a team that needs more offensive firepower, adding Fannin made plenty of sense. At 6-foot-3 and 241 pounds, he’s a matchup problem—especially with what he can do after the catch. Expect him to be a trusted target for Flacco early in the season.
The Browns still face big questions at wide receiver, where unproven talent fills the depth chart behind Jerry Jeudy. One way to help offset that uncertainty is by generating more production from their tight ends and running backs.
Fannin may not be a household name yet, but he has the potential to become one of Cleveland’s most impactful draft selections—even as a third-rounder. His performance in the preseason finale might just be a preview of what’s to come.
