The 2024 college football season was remarkable for Boise State Broncos' star running back Ashton Jeanty.

He rushed for an impressive 2,601 yards and scored 30 total touchdowns, making him one of the top prospects for the upcoming NFL draft. Athlon Sports has him projected to go No. 10 to the Chicago Bears in its latest mock draft.

On "First Things First," Fox Sports' Joel Klatt was asked whether he believes Jeanty could have an immediate impact similar to that of Jahmyr Gibbs from the Detroit Lions and Bijan Robinson from the Atlanta Falcons. Klatt acknowledged that there is one question about Jeanty's potential that he isn't certain about.

"In my estimation, to be a dynamic threat right away as a rookie, you have to be able to catch it dynamically out of the backfield," Klatt said. "All of the guys that have been impactful early on in their careers in the last few years can do that. So, the question remains, will Jeanty be able to do that."

Jeanty completed his college career with a total of 862 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He had only one season in which he exceeded 160 receiving yards. In comparison, Gibbs recorded 1,217 receiving yards and eight touchdowns during his college career, while Robinson finished with 805 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

In the NFL, Gibbs has achieved 833 receiving yards and five touchdowns, whereas Robinson has accumulated 918 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Klatt believes that Jeanty has the potential to be a receiving threat. He explained that this was not evident during Jeanty's time at Boise State because the team was focused on Jeanty winning the Heisman Trophy. Klatt felt that Jeanty's best opportunity to achieve this was by breaking Barry Sanders' rushing record, which meant that the team couldn't afford to give him five or more touches in the passing game; those opportunities had to be dedicated to running plays.

Ultimately, Jeanty fell just 28 yards short of breaking Sanders' 1988 record. Sanders won the Heisman Trophy that year, while Jeanty finished second to the Colorado Buffaloes' versatile star, Travis Hunter.

In 2023 at Boise State, Jeanty caught 43 passes for 569 yards and five touchdowns, much more effective in the passing game than his 2024 totals of 23 receptions for 138 yards and one score.

The NFL draft is set to begin on April 24, airing on ESPN and NFL Network.
