Jon Jones says he feels confident his biggest rival will always be a step behind him.

Jones and Cormier, who were both featured as coaches on the new ALF Reality series, have been spending more time around each other.

Jones is getting ready to defend his heavyweight belt against Stipe Miocic later this year. Meanwhile, Cormier is enjoying life after fighting, having retired in 2020 following a loss to Miocic.

Cormier once said that things had changed between him and Jones, but it doesn’t look like they’re ready to move on from their rivalry anytime soon.

Jon Jones backs Gable Steveson to surpass Daniel Cormier’s heavyweight legacy

Jon Jones didn’t hold back when asked about being around Daniel Cormier again, sharing some strong opinions about their renewed time together.

Although the filming included some lighter moments, Jones made it clear he hasn’t changed his opinion of his longtime rival.

Cormier’s success at heavyweight is often cited as a key difference between them. Still, Jones also captured the UFC title after moving up from a dominant run at light heavyweight.

In an interview with Red Corner MMA, Jones said that he feels he has pushed Cormier out of GOAT conversations and added that Gable Steveson could push him even further down the list in terms of heavyweight status.

Steveson is aiming for a 2024 UFC debut after transitioning from Olympic wrestling to an early 2-0 record in MMA.

Jon Jones throws another jab at Daniel Cormier while discussing a potential wrestling match

Daniel Cormier is open to facing off with Jon Jones in a wrestling match to add another chapter to their legendary rivalry.

Several top UFC stars have recently weighed in with their predictions for how a matchup like this would play out in 2026.

Jones himself admitted when he was asked about this by Red Corner MMA that he’s not sure how it would go, though he followed this up with another jab at ‘DC’.

“If I wrestled against Daniel Cormier, it’d be really interesting to see what would happen. I can’t definitively say what would happen in the sport of wrestling. But, the one thing I do know is that I made him cry in front of the world.”
