Josh Allen 2025 Redraft Outlook: How 2024 MVP Follows Elite Season?
- A young boy gets excited as Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen works his way closer to him at the Buffalo Bills training camp at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford on July 24, 2025.

If you’re drafting this season and Josh Allen isn’t near the top of your wish list, I’ve got a question for you: Are we even watching the same NFL? Because Allen, the 6’5” wrecking ball out of Wyoming, who also had an amazing offseason marrying actress Hailee Steinfeld, has been wreaking havoc on defenses for years, and in 2025, nothing’s changed. Seriously, this guy doesn’t just play quarterback; he redefines it.

Why Josh Allen is the Unicorn of Fantasy QBs

Bills Josh Allen leaps to the end zone in a nine-yard touchdown run after getting the ball passed back to him from Amari Cooper during the second half action of their home game against the San Francisco 49ers in Orchard Park on Dec. 1, 2024.

Allen isn’t your average QB. Sure, he has the size, the rocket arm, and the swagger to match, but it’s his versatility that makes him a fantasy dream. Want rushing touchdowns? He gives you double-digit numbers with ease. Need a guy to sling it 50 yards downfield to an open receiver? He’s your dude. And oh yeah, he happens to deliver big plays like clockwork.

Last year, Allen finished as the QB2 in fantasy points per game. To put that into context, since 2020, the worst he’s finished is QB3 in fantasy points per game. That kind of consistency is rarer than a clean Monday Night Football broadcast without someone mentioning Taylor Swift.

Rushing Production That Breaks the Scale

Allen’s ability to rack up rushing points is no secret. With 12 rushing touchdowns last season, he ranked second among QBs. The guy’s essentially a fullback in a quarterback’s body, and it shows inside the 10-yard line. No QB, not even Jalen Hurts, is touching his red-zone rush attempts.

What makes this even scarier? His rushing numbers barely look like they’re declining. Even with Buffalo dialing back his carries slightly under OC Joe Brady, Allen still managed 6.0 carries per game last season, converting tons of those into crucial fantasy points.

The Passing Game is Still Electric

Now, don’t think for a second that Allen’s rushing glory overshadows his arm. The man dropped 4,163 passing yards and 29 touchdowns last season. Efficiency? Check. His 7.7 yards per attempt kept pace with his career averages, and while his passing production dipped slightly, it wasn’t because of Allen himself.

The fact is, Buffalo’s offense didn’t do him many favors. Stefon Diggs’ departure left a major void, and rookies like Keon Coleman didn’t exactly make life easier. Yet, somehow, Allen was still dropping dimes like it’s a second language. His laser accuracy and knack for hero throws are why he maintains one of the highest TD rates among all QBs.

Still Buffalo’s Main Attraction

Want to know what really sets him apart? It’s not just his stats. It’s his role. This guy is the offense in Buffalo. From designed QB runs to deep bombs, nearly everything funnels through Allen. And while teams like Philly might have built their offenses around ground-and-pound, Buffalo still trusts Allen to carry the load.

Throw in an O-line ranked fourth in pass-protection last season, and there’s every reason to believe Allen will stay clean in the pocket and deliver another jaw-dropping fantasy season. Oh, and did I mention he played through a broken hand last year? Talk about grit.

What to Expect in 2025

Okay, now that we’ve established the benchmark is QB greatness personified, what should you expect this year? The short answer is more of the same, if not better. The additions of WR Josh Palmer and a healthy Dalton Kincaid give Josh new toys to mess around with. This team will still run the ball more under Brady, but don’t think for a second that they’ll lean so far into it that Allen becomes irrelevant.

All factors considered, he has a legitimate shot at finishing as QB1 this season. Sure, Patrick Mahomes always looms large, and Jalen Hurts’ rushing antics make him a nightmare for defensive setups. But Allen has ceiling potential like no one else.

Closing Thoughts

Draft Allen. Yes, it’s that obvious of an answer as watching Ryan Coogler’s Sinners starring the new Mrs. Allen, Steinfeld.

Listen, I know the cost of grabbing a top-tier QB can give any fantasy manager a little sticker shock, especially in leagues where positional depth in later rounds pays off. But this is Josh Allen we’re talking about. The floor is QB2. The ceiling? QB1 domination, complete with rushing scores, deep bombs, and jaw-dropping weekly highlights.

If that’s not the kind of player you want leading your fantasy squad, I don’t know what is. Now, get him on your roster and stop overthinking it. You’ll thank me by midseason.
