Kai Trump’s Miami Open post with Aryna Sabalenka may irk Donald Trump

Kai shared a photo with Sabalenka on her Instagram story after the Belarusian reached the Miami Open final.

“So much fun watching you… Let’s get it on Saturday,” she wrote.

The message came after Sabalenka defeated Elena Rybakina to book her place in the final.

Earlier in the day, Coco Gauff secured her own spot, giving American fans hope for a home victory against the world number one.

Despite Gauff potentially not being Donald Trump’s favourite, her victory would likely be his preferred ending for the tournament in a patriotic view.

That context makes Kai’s apparent support for Sabalenka particularly notable ahead of the final.

Sabalenka has previously spoken about Donald Trump’s relationship with tennis.

Last year, she dismissed concerns about his attendance choice during the US Open, and said he supports women in the sport.

“It just seems to me that he is the president, he probably has his own schedule, and still, probably, Alcaraz and Sinner after such incredible two finals that they played in Paris and London, it will be a really spectacular match, and I don’t think it is some kind of disrespect for women’s tennis,” the Belarusian star stated at the time.

“I know that he follows women’s tennis and supports it, so one hundred percent. It’s like he probably has his own busy schedule.”

Her comments suggested a level of appreciation for Trump’s interest in the sport.
