Heading into the 2023-24 season, the Cats knew they would have an issue rebounding the basketball without the seven-footers.
One of the reasons the Cats have gotten by without them has been Adou Thiero.
Thiero is averaging seven rebounds a game for the Cats, which is more than Tre Mitchell (6.3), who has been Kentucky's big guy early in the year.
He has been a true glue guy for this Kentucky basketball team, doing all of the dirty working down low, whether it be grabbing rebounds or scoring and getting the free throw line around the rim.
Thiero's hard work in the offseason to get stronger has really worked because he has been a force down low at only 6'8.
The seven-footers are slowly making their way back, which means Thiero will be needed less on the boards, but his hustle has been unmatched.
Andy Patton ranked the Kentucky freshman based on their play early into the 2023-24 season.
"The Kentucky Wildcats are 6-2 through the first eight games of the 2023-24 college basketball season, recently suffering a tough loss at Rupp Arena to UNC-Wilmington, who had never beaten a ranked opponent on the road."
"Regardless, it is clear John Calipari's team is among the most talented in the entire country, and they are performing on the backs of a large group of true freshmen - which can lead to clunkers like we saw on Saturday."
