Kentucky Football Hiring Mountain West Play-Caller to Fill Offensive Coordinator Vacancy

Hamdan will step in as the next offensive play-caller. The team was also linked to Oregon OC Will Stein, Akron head coach Joe Moorhead, and Cleveland browns tight ends coach Tommy Rees, per the Lexington Herald. 

Bush Hamdan: Heading to Lexington

Hamdan will join the Kentucky football program after one season with the Boise State Broncos. He operated as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The Broncos scored 32.1 points per game, the 32nd-best average in the country. His offensive unit finished second in the conference regarding rushing yards per game (214.9) and rushing yards per attempt (5.4). Additionally, they led the Mountain West with 6.6 yards per play. 

Before Boise State, Hamdan worked as the quarterbacks coach with the Missouri Tigers from 2020 to 2022. He also called offensive plays with the Washington Huskies during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. He scored 32.0 points per game in his final year, with quarterback Jacob Eason throwing for 23 touchdowns against eight picks. Hamdan also worked on the offensive side with the Atlanta Falcons, Maryland Terapains, Colorado Buffaloes, Sacramento State Hornets, Davidson Wildcats, and Arkansas State Red Wolves. 

Kentucky Football: Brock Vandagriff Era Starting Next Fall

After transferring from the Georgia Bulldogs football program, former five-star prospect Brock Vandagriff will play for the Kentucky Wildcats next season. The dual-threat Vandagriff will take over for Devin Leary at the quarterback position next year after the latter threw for 25 touchdowns against 12 picks as a redshirt senior in 2023. Vandagriff threw 21 passes in three seasons with Georgia, completing 57% of his passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran six times for 46 yards.
