Kentucky Set to Take on Austin Peay at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym

Lexington, Kentucky – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program is gearing up to take on Austin Peay in an exciting matchup on Tuesday, November 14th at 6 p.m. ET. The game will be held at the Clive M. Beck Center on the campus of Georgetown College. Darren Headrick, the Voice of the Wildcats, will provide the play-by-play commentary on UK Sports Network and SEC Network+.

The Wildcats have made an impressive start to the season with a perfect 2-0 record. They defeated East Tennessee State with a score of 74-66 and followed up with a dominant 82-54 victory over USC Upstate. Kentucky has displayed remarkable offensive prowess, with five players scoring in double digits in each of their games so far. This balanced attack has been key to their success in the early stages of the 2023-24 season.

Kentucky has also shown defensive prowess, ranking first in the Southeastern Conference in turnovers forced per game. They have been able to disrupt their opponents and generate scoring opportunities through their solid defensive play. In their last game against USC Upstate, the Wildcats scored an impressive 58 points in the paint, setting a new record during the Kyra Elzy era.

The Wildcats will now embark on a road trip, playing in five different arenas to begin the season. After their game against Austin Peay, they will go on to face Florida Gulf Coast on November 19th and participate in the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands from November 23rd to November 25th. These matchups will provide a great opportunity for the team to continue their winning streak and showcase their skills on a national stage.

The Kentucky women’s basketball program is also celebrating its 50th season of varsity basketball, which began in 1974-75. Throughout the season, the team will honor the individuals and moments that have contributed to the program’s rich history. This recognition serves as a reminder of the legacy that the Wildcats are building upon with each game they play.

Fans can look forward to exciting promotions and game themes for the Kentucky-Austin Peay matchup. The first 250 fans will receive a tie-dye scrunchie giveaway, adding a unique twist to their game day experience. Additionally, the game will be transformed into a 70s night celebration, paying homage to the program’s early years and featuring the best tunes from the 70s.

While a limited number of tickets remain, fans are encouraged to purchase in advance, as tickets may not be available at the door. Parking will be available in designated lots marked as “UK Event Parking” on the attached map. These lots will open at 4 p.m. ET.
