Allan Henry-USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Suns faltered when it counted the most against a New Orleans Pelicans team led by CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson. In the process, both Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal try to shed light on how their team lost during a time when every game is crucial to their playoff campaign.

In a game between the two playoff-hopefuls, it was NOLA who came out on top with a 113-105 victory. CJ McCollum came up big for the Pelicans by making 31 points, four rebounds, and five assists. Zion Williamson dropped 29 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. The All-Star forward’s defense was also a key factor by blocking five shots against the Suns.

Phoenix, on the hand, saw its All-Star core fill up the stat sheet. Bradley Beal had 33 points, Devin Booker made 25, while Kevin Durant added 23 of his own. Apart from the three and Grayson Allen’s 11 points, no other player in the Suns’ lineup scored in double-digits.

The loss gave New Orleans a chance to tie Phoenix for the sixth spot. Both teams now have 46 wins and 32 losses each as the regular season will soon come to a close.

Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal Reveal Reasons For Phoenix Suns Loss to New Orleans Pelicans

After the game, both Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant spoke to reporters about their performance against the Pelicans. In several posts shared by Duane Rankin on X, both superstars reveal why Phoenix lost to New Orleans.

Compared to the Suns’ reserve unit, New Orleans had more players play well on both ends of the court. Phoenix, on the other hand, only had its All-Star trio to count on when it came to down the line.

With this loss, the Suns will have to work twice as hard to climb back up the standings. Otherwise, they’ll find themselves fighting for a playoff spot via the Play-In Tournament.
