Kevin Durant does not hold back from calling out his critics and heavily engaging with fans on social media. Earlier this week, he was beefing with a Clippers fan, 'Dime Dropper,' on social media over not giving respect to his scoring abilities.
Following this, he also clapped back at a post from a Michael Jordan fan account, 'AirJordans23,' that discredited a list that ranked his three-level scoring as the best in league history.
The same social media user, 'AirJordans23,' pointed fingers at Kevin Durant in a new post and said Michael Jordan did not bully his fans like Durant and LeBron James do.
"When has Michael Jordan ever bullied a normal person in the real world like @KDTrey5? Not another pro athlete or rapper, but a random everyday person? When did MJ ever have a heckling fan ejected like overrated @KingJames? MJ is a man of the people."
Kevin Durant turned the tables on him and called him out.
"Why are you bullying me?" said the Rockets' superstar.
The same social media user, @AirJordan2323, previously shared a video of Michael Jordan eating at a restaurant and criticized Kevin Durant in the caption of that video as well.
"Does Michael Jordan waste time on social media like @KDTrey5 bullying normal basketball fans? Hell nah. MJ chooses to live his best life, whether it's chilling, minding his own business, or having fun amongst the people like a normal dude."
This did not sit well with Durant, who felt he was being unnecessarily attacked on social media. He immediately fired back at the Jordan-inspired fan account.
"I’ve tweeted from this place plenty of times…one of them places that if you know, you know..I recommend u get out of that Mj-inspired basement and go see the world."
Subsequently, another fan called out Durant for being "one of the guys" in comparison to Michael Jordan.
"MJ and I have been at that spot tho, I don’t get what u mean," responded Durant.
"ANYTHING 'MJ inspired' should be next to your cereal bowl in the morning. Instead, you tried to paint that as a bad thing," the fan replied.
The fan went on to explain that, in his opinion, Kevin Durant was one of the many NBA players who benefited from the seeds that Michael Jordan had sown and owes a lot of his career to Jordan.
"His bill was probably higher than mine, but we definitely dined at the same restaurant," said Durant, hilariously.
While Durant wants respect for his own legacy, there seems to be a festering feeling among the NBA fans that Durant does not give Michael Jordan the flowers for his legacy and considers himself to be better than Jordan was in his prime.
Durant (30,571 points) is currently only 1,721 points away from surpassing Michael Jordan (32,292 points) on the NBA career scoring list.
Whether or not that is true is up for debate, but clearly, Durant does not take his disrespect lightly. While he does not put himself above the Bulls legend, he will likely never admit he is worse than anyone.
