NBA schedule markers are evil geniuses, but they may have reached a new height this time. They will have Kevin Durant, of all people, be on the other side of the court when the reigning champions Oklahoma City Thunder, get their championship rings.
Durant could've been the greatest player in Thunder history, and the fans will always criticize him for his decision to leave the franchise to join the Golden State Warriors, the very same team that beat him in the playoffs.
However, Durant has never been the one to pay too much attention to the haters. If anything, he's become infamous among NBA fans for his love for hitting back at them on social media. That's why it wasn't much of a surprise to see him going back and forth with some Thunder fans trying to troll him about the schedule.
When asked about his feelings when he watches his former team get its first-ever ring, the two-time NBA champion was simply ruthless:
"where will your mental be opening night when you watch the team that gave you everything raise a banner after you left them high and dry," one OKC fan asked him.
"Finally. It’s been 10 years, bout time they win one lmaooo," he responded.

Durant kept it going for a while and didn't hold back when the fans tried to question his character:
"You’re right, I care more about me than I care about your fanbase. You caught me lmao," he clapped back to a fan calling him a narcissist.
Durant has always been unapologetic about his career decisions, and he rarely minces his words when fans try to get under his skin.
Even so, while he took some shots at his former Thunder teammates years ago, he has nothing but respect for what they've built. Earlier in the year, when the Thunder made the NBA Finals, he praised them when a fan asked him whether this version of OKC could beat his Thunder team from 2012:
"Im not big on hypotheticals so idk but this 2025 thunder team, they are historically great. Great shooting all across the board, efficient go to scorer in deuce, size and athleticism all across the board, versatility, shooting big and bruiser big, great coaching. Just a flat out perfectly crafted unit. I (expletive) with their approach to basketball. They are puttin together great film to learn from," Durant replied.
At the end of the day, the Thunder's Big 3 will always be considered one of the biggest 'what ifs' in major sports history, but there's no point in crying over spilt milk. It's been almost a decade since Durant moved on, and while he'll always be tied to the organization, his departure worked out just well for both parties.
