Kickoff Time For Cotton Bowl Announced Amid Concerns Over Winter Storm

There have been some concerns about the kickoff time for the Cotton Bowl Classic between Ohio State and Texas. That's because a winter storm is expected to hit Texas this week.

As of right now, Arlington is bracing for snow and ice prior to kickoff on Friday. That would make the road conditions quite brutal for those traveling to AT&T Stadium. In an effort to ease those concerns, the city will be fully staffed and have plows on standby this week. That plan clearly satisfied Cotton Bowl officials.

According to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, the Cotton Bowl is still on schedule to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday. Ohio State and Texas should arrive in Dallas on Wednesday.

"Bowl officials met with emergency management, law enforcement, CFP leaders and meteorologists today as they continue to monitor the winter storm approaching Dallas. Teams are still scheduled to arrive Wednesday," Dellenger said. "There has been little to no serious discussion about postponing the game as of now, according to those with knowledge of the discussions. The forecast is for 3-6 inches of snow Thursday and no ice. There are no plans, as of now, to cancel any fan events or other Gameday events."

College football fans are thrilled about this update. The last thing they wanted is for the Cotton Bowl to be postponed.

While the latest update is very encouraging, there's always a slight change that Mother Nature shakes things up. For that reason alone, we'll continue monitoring this situation.

Ohio State punched its ticket to the College Football Playoff semifinals by blowing out Oregon in the Rose Bowl. Texas, meanwhile, defeated Arizona State in a double overtime thriller.

The Cotton Bowl Classic will be televised on ESPN. The winner will face either Penn State or Notre Dame in the national championship game.
