Kiki Jefferson Among Cheryl Miller Award Top 10 Players

University of Louisville standout Kiki Jefferson has been recognized for her impressive performance on the court this season. The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced that Jefferson has been named to the Top 10 List for the 2024 Cheryl Miller Award. This prestigious award, named after the legendary three-time Naismith Player of the Year and Hall of Famer, honors the top small forwards in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.

Jefferson, a transfer from James Madison, has emerged as one of the Cardinals’ key scoring options this season. She currently leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.2 points per game. Additionally, she ranks second on the team in assists (2.5) and steals (1.3) per game, as well as third in rebounding (4.1) per game. Jefferson has shown great efficiency as a scorer, shooting over 50 percent from the field in 12 games this season. She has also been exceptional from the free-throw line, boasting an impressive 89.7 percent shooting percentage.

In recognition of her outstanding performances, Jefferson has scored in double figures in 13 games and has tallied at least eight points in 18 out of 19 games this season. She also reached a significant milestone in her career, surpassing the 2,000-point mark in a road win over Miami. In a recent victory over Clemson, Jefferson showcased her versatility by scoring 17 points and tying her career high of eight assists.

The 2024 Cheryl Miller Award features a competitive list of candidates, including Yarden Garzon from Indiana, Alyssa Ustby from North Carolina, and Cotie McMahon from Ohio State, among others. In March, the Selection Committee for the Cheryl Miller Award, consisting of media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers, will choose five finalists, who will be presented to Miller and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee.
