Kingston & Baszler Advance To WWE Raw King & Queen of the Ring Matches

WWE Raw stars Kofi Kingston and Shayna Baszler have advanced in the King and Queen of the Ring tournament.

The duo defeated Rey Mysterio and Maxxine Dupri during a non-televised WWE SuperShow, on Sunday.

Kingston and Baszler will compete in the next round of the tournaments on WWE Raw tonight. Watch Kingston and Baszler win their King and Queen of the Ring matches below.

Kingston Gets Dream Match With Gunther 

Kingston will get the honor of being chopped to pieces by King of the Ring favorite Gunther on WWE Raw in a quarter-final match. 

Kingston replaced Xavier Woods in the tournament after his New Day partner was injured by Gunther. Kingston has made revenge against Gunther his top priority. But could this laser focus prevent Kingston from winning the tournament?

The old adage, ‘winners focus on winning while losers focus on winners’ springs to mind. 

Kingston facing the “Ring General” less than 24 hours after his victory over Mysterio suggests the outcome of this match will be anything but a mystery.

Kingston avoided Mysterio’s 619 and put him down for three with his Trouble in Paradise kick. Watch this moment from the WWE SuperShow in Macon below. 

Gunther has had a weeks rest since his opening round victory over Sheamus. Both Gunther’s tournament opponents have been former WWE Champions. 

Queen of the Ring of Spades

Zelena Vega was pulled from her first-round match against Shayna Baszler due to injury. This meant the first-ever Queen of the Ring would be unable to launch an attempt at a repeat victory.

Baszler was handed the up-and-coming Maxxine Dupri instead. Baszler toyed with Dupri and laid punishment on her arm – as you can see in the below clip.

Dupri later went for a crossbody which “The Queen of Spades” reversed into her Kirikuda clutch submission to force a tap out. 

Baszler will face IYO SKY tonight on WWE Raw in the next round of the Queen of the Ring.

The finals of the King and Queen of the Ring tournament will take place at a PLE of the same name in Saudi Arabia on May 25, 2024.
