Manchester United have not ruled out the sale of Carrington graduate Kobbie Mainoo this summer and Ineos’ asking price will worry fans.

Mainoo has yet to feature in either of the first two games of the new season, and he did not look pleased after the 1-1 draw with Fulham.

So far, Ineos haven’t made any significant sales. However, players such as Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Rasmus Hojlund and Jadon Sancho are all expected to move on before the window closes.

Mainoo was valued at £85m in January but now has a price tag of £60m. That is a huge reduction for a player who had already started to show his worth by then.

The current situation doesn’t seem likely to change. With no signs that he will be getting more minutes any time soon, Mainoo remains open to leaving Manchester United this summer.

Ineos place £45 million price tag on Kobbie Mainoo

Manchester United have struggled with player sales for years, and this summer hasn’t been any different. Compared to other clubs, they often find it hard to bring in significant fees.

The club has set a £50 million price tag on Garnacho and appears willing to hold out for that fee. However, Mainoo could be available for less.

According to The Athletic, there’s a belief inside the club that an offer of around £45 million would be enough to get a deal done. That figure could drop further as the deadline approaches, if no concrete bids come in.

Mainoo was valued at £70 million back in January, so it’s clear Ineos have significantly reduced their expectations since then.

Uncertainty surrounds Mainoo’s future amid lack of clarity from Amorim

During pre-season, Ruben Amorim pushed Mainoo to improve, hinting that he saw a future role for the young midfielder. But with no game time in the first two matches, Mainoo is now questioning where he stands in the squad.

The Athletic has noted that those close to Mainoo were caught off guard by what they described as a lack of communication from Amorim. Despite a reputation for good player relations, it appears this hasn’t extended to Mainoo’s situation.

Mainoo faces tough competition from Bruno Fernandes in midfield and will likely be looking to start against Grimsby in the Carabao Cup. If he doesn’t get that chance, speculation around his future is only going to increase.
