The UNLV Lady Rebels fell to the San Diego State Aztecs on Tuesday night in the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
Three players from the Lady Rebels squad scored in double digits.
Alyssa Brown led the way scoring 15 points. Brown went 4-for-9 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Kiara Jackson was the team’s second leading scorer with 14 points. Amarachi Kimpson added 10 points.
McKinna Brackens led the team in rebounds, bringing down 10.
On the other side of the ball, the Aztecs had five players scoring in double digits.
Veronica Sheffey led the Aztecs with 15 points. Naomi Panganiban followed up with 14 points. Kim Villalobos added 11 points respectively.
Cali Clark led the4 Aztecs in rebounding, pulling down nine.
The Lady Rebels clawed back trimming the lead down to eight points, bringing the score to 52-44. With 6:30 left to play, the Lady Rebels went on an eight-point run and were able to pull within seven of the Aztecs, 57-50. Alyssa Brown then sinked two free-throws.
With 40 seconds left in the game, San Diego State pushed its lead back to 12.
With the loss, the Lady Rebels reign as Mountain West Conference champions for a fourth straight year come to an end.
Next up for the Lady Rebels could be the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
