Lazio midfielder Mattia Zaccagni is excited to return to the pitch after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Speaking in an interview with Italian newspaper Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24) yesterday, the 26-year-old Italian midfielder first touched on his desire to play again soon after returning to full fitness.

I missed the pitch so much. I had just arrived, I was very disappointed not to be with my teammates in the last games.

He commented on his welcome in Rome following his signing for Lazio.

Rome welcomed me very well, as well as the whole team. 

I arrived at a great club, and I’m sure we will have a great season.

The former Hellas Verona talisman touched on which team is the most convincing so far this season in Serie A.

AC Milan is the team that have convinced me the most, they are very strong.

Finally, Zaccagni discussed the importance of the fans returning to the stadiums.

It will be exciting, they will be an extra weapon.

The 26-year-old Zaccagni has joined Lazio on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy attached, signing the deal on transfer deadline day.

He has made three appearances so far this season under coach Maurizio Sarri, two substitute appearances against AC Milan and Cagliari, and a full 90 minutes in the 1-0 Europa League loss to Galatasaray.

His return will allow Sarri to rotate his attacking options a little, either slotting Zaccagni in on the wing or in a more central role.
