Keeping eyes on May 8, Caitlin Clark is set to take the reins of her 3 rd WNBA season. But adding to her natural excitement of kickstarting the season, LeBron James also echoed the same ethos.
After a moderately successful preseason run with a 2-1 record, the Indiana Fever and Clark are both ready to take on the Dallas Wings in the 2026 WNBA season opener. And while CC voiced out her excitement, James also weighed in.
“Year 3!!! See you all soon,” Clark wrote in a post on Instagram this week, with some photos of her on the court or during practice. And the NBA icon didn’t hesitate to make his way into the comments, writing, “LFG!!!!!!!!”
If anything, Clark shouldn’t be surprised. Before she started her 2nd WNBA season, James also shared some photos of them standing together. His caption read, “Good luck and DO YOU per usual this season!!!”
And equally, the 24-year-old also drew major inspiration from the Los Angeles Lakers star. From calling him an “idol” or her “GOAT”, Clark knew James follows the WNBA and “loves and appreciates the way the Fever… play.”
So, with great stats, no injury setback, and a motivational push from an icon like LeBron James, Clark has everything under her belt. But what about the on-court approach she’ll be taking?
Last year, the Fever was a hospital team with key players sitting on the sidelines due to season-ending injuries. One of them was Clark, who battled a groin injury. But this year, the 24-year-old would allow no repetition.
“I’m a person who doesn’t want to sit out a single rep. I want to be in there every single time,” she said in April. “But I think just being a little bit smarter with my body… whether that’s recovery, whether that’s pre-court treatment, whatever it is.”
Although there was a minute injury scare during a preseason game, the Fever 22 assured that she’s “100% healthy.” So, all marks ticked down for her to do her thing, as James said.
