LeBron James’ true thoughts on Josh Allen despite ‘never’ spending time with him

LeBron James has made his feelings on Josh Allen clear despite admitting he has never actually spent time with the Bills quarterback.

Allen is not being praised on reputation alone here. He is coming off another season where the Buffalo Bills’ offense still ran through his arm, legs, and decision-making.

That is why LeBron’s comment carries more weight than casual cross-sport admiration. It lines up with how Allen is still viewed heading into the 2026 season.

LeBron James did not need to know Josh Allen personally to rate him highly

LeBron James was complimentary when Josh Allen came up during a conversation on Bob Does Sports.

Even without a personal connection, LeBron sounded convinced by what Allen projects from afar as both a player and a person.

He said, “I love him. He’s still good. … I’ve never spent time with him, but he seems like a f______ great dude. I’ll definitely root for him during the season,” James said.

That answer stood out because it was not built on friendship or shared history. It was built on the kind of profile Allen has created across the wider sports world.

Josh Allen’s 2025 stats show why he still looks elite ahead of the 2026 season

The easiest way to judge whether Allen is still that good is to start with what he just produced.

In the 2025 regular season, Allen threw for 3,668 yards and 25 touchdowns with 10 interceptions, while adding 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns for Buffalo, numbers that again underlined how much of the Bills’ offense depends on his dual-threat game.

That did not stop once the playoffs started, either. Allen followed it with 556 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, 99 rushing yards, and two more rushing scores in the postseason.

So even if his passing volume dipped from some earlier peaks, the overall impact remained obvious. He is still the engine of the Bills offense, and early 2026 MVP markets reflect that by placing him among the leading names again.

That is what makes LeBron’s view easy to understand. He may never have spent time with Allen, but the quarterback’s level is still clear enough that it travels well beyond the NFL.
