With so many points of discussion in the ongoing CBA negotiations in the WNBA, one of the league's legends believes there's a key area being overlooked by both players and fans.
The league's current explosion in popularity has resulted in historic ticket sales, ratings and merchandising, which has also allowed it to add more games to its regular season schedule.
However, those added games haven't resulted in added rest for the WNBA's ladies and that's something Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo argues needs to change.
Speaking on the condensed schedule on X this weekend, Lobo laid out the average amount of days between games over the past five years and noted the rise in injuries over that same stretch.
"A priority of @TheWNBPA in the new CBA has to be addressing the condensed schedule. This season there are too many games in too short a period of time," Lobo said, citing research from ESPN's Garrett Gastfield. With the average rest time nearly being cut in half from 2021 (4.03 days) to 2025 (2.70 days).
Lobo's post also drew a response from colleague Holly Rowe who commented: "Not sustainable. Health of the players is paramount."
The defending champion Liberty are about to enter a a taxing run of 12 games in 22 days. Which when accounting for travel, adds nine days where the team will be fully booked — leaving just 24 hours for rest, recovery and strength training to keep players at their peak.

Just on Saturday alone 11 different players showed up on the injury report with "questionable" or "out" designations.
Phoenix Mercury forward Satou Sabally has been one of the foremost voices when it comes to the league's recent scheduling decisions. And as a representative of the WNBPA Leadership Committee, she'll definitely make sure this lands on commissioner Cathy Engelbert's desk this summer.
