In a thrilling Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals on Wednesday evening, the Indiana Pacers edged out the New York Knicks 138–135 in overtime at Madison Square Garden in New York City, taking a 1–0 series lead.
The game showed strong offensive plays from both teams. Knicks star player Jalen Brunson led his team with 43 points, while center Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 35 points, 12 rebounds and two assists. Meanwhile, Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton scored 31 points and 11 assists, while Aaron Nesmith added 30 points, including six three-pointers during overtime. Obi Toppin delivered a pivotal dunk that helped seal their victory.
Facing a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter, the Pacers had a remarkable comeback to take that 1–0 series lead. Though the Knicks had opportunities to win the game, they were unable to do so, and the Pacers ended up outscoring the Knicks 13–10.
Many fans and athletes shared their excitement for the Pacers' comeback win, including Indiana Fever's Lexie Hull. 12 minutes after the official announcement was posted, the guard commented "sheeeeeesh" to support her fellow Indiana team.
Though Hull is not from Indiana, the Stanford alum has seemed to embrace their local sports culture, and her support didn’t go unnoticed. Fans were quick to notice her mutual love and support between Indiana’s WNBA and NBA teams, with her comment receiving over 190 likes in an hour.
Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals will take place on Friday at Madison Square Garden again at 8 p.m. ET.
