Here is one that nobody had on their bingo card. The Detroit Lions will be waiving sixth-round pick Ahmed Hassanein with an injury settlement, per Ben Raven of MLive.

Ok, now it's important that you pay attention to this part because this is big. The Lions might be doing some roster gymnastics with this one. This does not mean that Hassanein is guaranteed to be done with the Lions at this point, but it is a big risk. Any team can now decide they want to claim him. If they do, it's over. If they don't, he will then revert back to the Lions and be on injured reserve with them. The Lions will have five days to release him on an agreed-upon injury settlement and then release him. Something they probably wouldn't do.

This is absolutely a risk for the Lions, like we mentioned, but remember, if a team claims Hassaniein, they have to either put him on their 53-man roster and keep him there for four games or they can put him on their IR and keep him there for four weeks. We don't know how long this injury is going to last, and the claiming team doesn't either. So they might not want to grab a player who might not be ready in four weeks, and who would they have to then put on season-ending IR.

What this does do for the Lions is get him off the roster without having to use one of the IR to return spots. If it all works out, it's really smart. If it doesn't, the Lions lost a promising edge rusher. We'll see what happens.
