Tuesday's playoff series started strong, and now we have the gift of getting three more beginning tonight, one in the NBA and two in the NHL.
Red-hot Luka Doncic and Mavs take on Golden State - Fresh off two big games with its back against the walls, Dallas heads to Golden State to take on a Warriors team that is a heavy favorite to win the Western Conference Finals. During the regular season, Dallas won the series 3-1, but the Warriors haven't been at the level of health they are today. Draymond Green was active for only one of those games, and Luka himself cited the defensive pest as the key for the Warriors. In Game 1 at home, we'll be rolling with the Warriors to cover the -5. Fresh off a 30-point Game 7, look Spencer Dinwiddie's way for your prop bets. His points are set at just 11.5 tonight, and in two games against Golden State this year, Dinwiddie is averaging 20.5 points scored.
Metropolitan rivals meet in Game 1 - The Rangers and Hurricanes begin their series tonight, one that has the potential for a seven-game series considering the strength of each on home ice. Carolina won all four games at home in Round 1, and with an extra day of rest, we'll bet the home team in Carolina. The best moneyline odds are currently at -160 on FanDuel. If you prefer to back a player, look to Sebastian Aho, who has six goals in his last eight meetings against New York. Aho is +145 to net a goal tonight.
Battle of Alberta headlines NHL's second round - The late game tonight is also the most anticipated, as the Battle of Alberta (Edmonton and Calgary) meets in the postseason for the first time in 30 years. This series has all the makings of a great one, and we'll look for goals instead of choosing a winner in Game 1. In four meetings this season, both teams averaged four or more goals per game. Bet over six goals tonight.
Orlando Magic win NBA lottery - Thanks to the second-worst record in the NBA, Orlando was able to jump Houston and earn the rights to the top pick in this upcoming NBA Draft. The Magic certainly have needs throughout. Former Auburn forward Jabari Smith is the favorite to go first at -125, but we prefer the value on Gonzaga big man Chet Holmgren at +150. The 7-footer can shoot, play defense and embodies much of the positional versatility that has become the norm in today's NBA. Bet on Chet at +150.
Heat take Game 1, odds for the series shift - We alluded in yesterday's Bark Bets that the Heat and Jimmy Butler were likely to take Game 1, which is exactly what happened. Thanks to a big third quarter, Miami took the lead and never looked back. On a quick turnaround and down two starters, this result was to be expected for the Celtics. Down a game, we recommend backing Boston to win the series, with odds to win now at +115, much better than the -200 yesterday.
English Premier League coming down to the wire, but odds don't reflect it - Thanks to a come-from-behind 2-1 victory, Liverpool remains alive for the English Premier League title as the league approaches its final day. Liverpool will now need to pair a win on Sunday with a Manchester City loss on the same day. While Man City is a heavy favorite against Aston Villa, anything can happen. Despite this race coming down to the wire, City is -550 to win the EPL and Liverpool is +470 to take home the crown. An alternative betting approach here if you want to root for a Liverpool win would be to back Aston Villa's moneyline at +1600, considering that would need to occur for Liverpool to jump Man City.
