The Louisville Cardinals are coming off a successful season in the ACC. They made it to the ACC Championship game where their offense stalled under a suffocating Florida State defense. Head coach Jeff Brohm wants to make sure that the offense has plenty of weapons for next year. The program landed former Alabama wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks from the transfer portal on Friday.
NEWS: Alabama transfer WR Ja'Corey Brooks has committed to Louisville

Brooks was a five-star recruit in the 2021 recruiting cycle. He saw his role diminish in 2023 but in 2022 he was a favorite target of quarterback Bryce Young. He had 39 receptions for 674 yards and eight touchdowns last season. For whatever reason, he couldn’t find the field this year and this is likely what caused him to transfer. For Louisville, this is a massive get as they are not considered a top transfer destination.
The Cardinals are looking to build on their 2023 season. Making it to the championship game is a great start but the program wants to take it a step further in 2024. We will know very early on whether Louisville can hang with the top programs as early season matchups with Notre Dame and Kentucky are on the schedule. The only good news for the Cardinals is that they avoid the Seminoles in the regular season.
Can the Louisville Cardinals take the next step in 2024? Landing Brooks for their offense definitely helps and it will be interesting to see how Brohm continues to build this roster in the offseason.
