Ahead of the upcoming NCAA tournament, the Louisville Cardinals women’s basketball team received terrible news involving one of their future players. One of the best recruits in the country faces a lengthy recovery after suffering a terrible car crash.

Myah Epps, 18, suffered a car crash on her way to Homestead High School in Fort Way, Indiana, on March 13. Authorities airlifted her to Indianapolis for surgery. Epps underwent emergency back surgery after the accident. Somebody launched a GoFundMe page in her name

“By the Grace of God she is still with us!” read the GoFundMe page. “However she sustained critical injuries and has a long recovery ahead of her. Many people have asked how they can help. This GoFundMe has been created to help the family with the extensive healthcare expenses, hotel stays, food, and necessities.”

The GoFundMe reached its $50,000 goal at the time of writing.

Louisville HC Has Stayed In Communication With Myah Epps’ Family

As the Cardinals prepare for the 2026 NCAA tournament, coach Jeff Walz told WHAS 11 that he plans to visit Myah Epps in the hospital. However, the upcoming tournament makes it difficult for him.

“I’ve been on the phone with Myah and her family,” Walz told WHAS’ Sarandon Raboin on Selection Sunday. “She had surgery this morning. The doctor said things went well. She’s got a long road in front of her for recovery, but they’re expecting a full recovery. I’m hoping to go up on Tuesday night after our practice to see her. It’s a scary situation. She was on her way to school.”

Epps averaged 14 points, 4.1 assists and four rebounds per game for Homestead this season.
