The LSU Tigers have retained their top ranking in D1 Baseball's newest poll.
The Tigers had a very strong week where they defeated North Dakota State twice and then swept North Alabama in a three-game series this past weekend. On Monday, D1 Baseball dropped their newest poll, and the Tigers still hold the top spot.
The Tigers started their week off with a bit of a scare. The North Dakota State Bison came to town and nearly upset the No. 1 team in the country on Tuesday, but a late rally led the Tigers to an 11-9 victory. The two teams met the following day as well, and that game went much more smoothly for the Tigers, who won 13-3 in seven innings.
After their two-game midweek series, the Tigers hosted North Alabama this past weekend for their final non-conference series before SEC play starts this Friday. None of the games were ever that close with LSU winning by an average margin of seven runs per game.
The Tennessee Volunteers made a big push for the No. 1 spot after going 3-0 in the Astros Foundations College Classic this weekend, but with LSU going undefeated, they couldn't quite takeover the top spot in the rankings.
