The LSU Tigers picked up their fifth win of the season on Saturday, defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks. Sitting at 5-1, their only loss came in Week 5 to the Ole Miss Rebels.

The win over South Carolina boosts the Tigers in the right direction as they search for an SEC title and national championship. LSU was also able to impress several recruits in attendance on game day visits.

Class of 2027 cornerback Joshua Dobson made his way to Death Valley for the SEC showdown. Rivals Industry Rankings place him as a five-star recruit, the No. 2 cornerback and the No. 6 player in the nation.

After the visit, Dobson spoke to Rivals' Steve Wiltfong, making it clear the Tigers left a strong impression.

“This is one of the best visits I’ve had in my whole recruitment,” Dobson said. "I love the way their defense is playing. They’re flying around and having fun. And like I said, the cornerbacks are getting coached by one of the best, Coach Raymond.”

The only commitment LSU has landed in the 2027 recruiting class is from four-star quarterback Peyton Houston. Adding another player, such as Dobson, would be a big boost.

He may have enjoyed his time in Death Valley, but the battle for his commitment is far from over. Wiltfong reported that LSU will "continue to battle the likes Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Notre Dame for Dobson’s pledge."

The cornerback still has plenty of time before making a decision, considering he's only a junior at Catawba Ridge High School in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Before the season started, Dobson was named a Preseason MaxPreps Junior All-American.
