Just one day after LSU Shreveport triumphed over Hope International to achieve their remarkable 58th consecutive victory, the Pilots stepped onto the field to wrap up what is considered the greatest season in college baseball history. An undefeated season in baseball is truly astonishing.

Unlike football or basketball, where typically the most talented team comes out on top, baseball involves numerous variables that make it hard to believe a team could complete an entire season without experiencing at least one poor performance.

While Coastal Carolina's victory in the College World Series in 2016 was a fantastic tale, that season the Chanticleers ended with a record of 55-18. It was an impressive feat and arguably the second-best storyline in college baseball history, but it simply cannot be compared to an undefeated season.

Tim Brando, a legendary broadcaster and Louisiana native, perfectly captured the significance of LSU Shreveport’s achievement as they approached the championship.

Tonight at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho, the Pilots overcame several deficits against Southeastern Fire including being down 4-0 and 7-5, as the Fire’s offense was explosive early in the game.

After the fifth inning, things changed dramatically. LSU Shreveport took control of the game and never let up. The Pilots broke it open with consecutive home runs from outfielders Jackson Syring and Ian Montz. Meanwhile, the pitching staff stepped up and shut down Southeastern in the final innings. Ultimately, the relentless Pilots continued to dominate, securing a 13-7 victory and winning the school's first NAIA National Championship.
