Lucknow Super Giants Defeat Gujarat Titans by 33 Runs

With just ten matches left in the Indian Premier League 2025, Lucknow Super Giants clashed with Gujarat Titans in the 64th match, held at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

After losing the toss, LSG had to bat. Their batters appeared well-prepared and put up a dominant batting performance, finishing their innings at a massive 235 runs. Only four batters were required to complete the chase.

Mitchell Marsh led the charge and anchored the innings with an unbeaten 117 runs off 64 balls, laced with 10 fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 182.81. Nicholas Pooran scored 56, and Rishabh Pant scored 16; both remained unbeaten during the match.

Opener Markram also contributed a steady 36 runs off 24 balls. Thanks to the top-order batters' strong performance, the rest of the lineup did not have to come to the crease. Lucknow Super Giants' bowlers struggled to take wickets and gave away 10 extras, comprising one bye, two leg byes, six wides, and one no-ball, adding to their frustrations.

Gujarat Titans fell short of the target, finishing at 202 for 9 in 20 overs. The top-order batter Shahrukh Khan led the charge, top-scoring with a solid 57 runs from 29 balls, guiding the team through the most challenging phase of the innings. Sherfane Rutherford, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler chipped in with 38, 35, and 33 runs, respectively.

However, despite a strong start from the top order, the tailenders couldn't contribute significantly. The batters managed single-digit scores and struggled to find boundaries under pressure from LSG bowlers.

William O'Rourke claimed three wickets, while the other bowlers chipped in with one or two wickets. The innings concluded with Ayush Badoni recording the last dismissal in the 19.6 over.

Despite securing a win, LSG remains in sixth place on the points table and is officially out of playoff contention. Meanwhile, GT continues to lead the table with 18 points, having qualified for the next stage.
