Luka Doncic’s international teammate answers how LA Lakers star reacted to heavy Serbia defeat

As Luka Doncic and Slovenia lost to Nikola Jokic and Serbia, one of his teammates peeled the curtain back on how he handled the situation.

While Los Angeles Lakers fans are excited to see Luka Doncic lead their team next season, he is currently focused on doing the same for the Slovenian national team.

However, things got very frightening during the warm-up games, as Luka Doncic suffered a terrifying injury. Fortunately, it wasn’t too severe, and he has continued playing with the team.

Just days later, Doncic returned for Slovenia against Great Britain, dropping 28 points and leading his team to a win.

But in the following game, Doncic scored just 17 points against Serbia, as Slovenia suffered a humiliating 106-72 loss against Nikola Jokic’s side.

Slovenian teammate says Luka Doncic response to loss brought team closer

Slovenian basketball star Edo Muric spoke in an interview with Slovenian outlet Ekipa recently about their loss to the Serbian national team.

He echoed the sentiments of several players, who anticipated the chance to redeem themselves.

When talking about how Luka Doncic handled the loss as a captain, he admitted that they had a conversation with the team. It brought the squad closer together, and they are optimistic for the EuroBasket tournament.

“We know that we will never allow ourselves to do something like that again, and we have seen what can happen to us if we do not give everything for each other.

“We can’t wait for the game, we can’t wait to show what we can do and to redeem ourselves.

“I don’t like to talk about things that happen in the locker room, but we had a conversation about this right after the game. I think we already cleared up a few things in Belgrade, we said what we needed to.

“It certainly brought us even closer. I hope that there will be a positive response from all of us and that we show what we can do.”

Luka Doncic wants EuroBasket success to build momentum with LA Lakers

For Luka Doncic, leading Slovenia to a grueling but vindicating win at the EuroBasket tournament would be the biggest accomplishment of his career.

But it could have an even bigger effect on his professional career in the NBA. A successful EuroBasket tournament would set him up nicely to have a great season with the LA Lakers.
