Luke McCowan: 'Wow. He is superb, I hope Celtic have got their eye on him,' Rod Stewart

After the past few years of shopping in the exotic markets of Asia and the Far East, many amongst the Celtic support having called for the Hoops to look more closer to home when scouting players once again.

Celtic have always had a rich tradition of going and bagging the best players in the domestic game when they look ready to take that next step up. Greg Taylor is arguably the last one in this respect and that was a few years ago now.

Under Gordon Strachan we has the likes of Paul Hartley and Barry Robson come in from Hearts and Dundee United respectively, and make an instant impact on our title charge at that time. Scott McDonald was another who came in and performed well above what was initially expected of him, so there is merit and value for shopping locally and with a few stars rising currently in the Scottish Premiership, we could be back to that this year.

Lennon Miller and Connor Barron are the two that have been consistently linked with a move to Celtic, as well as Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski. However, one that has caught the eye this term and he helped his side to a thoroughly deserved point against our fierce rivals the other week, is Dark Blues attacker, Luke McCowan. The Dundee wide-man is getting praised to the hilt for recent performances and rightfully so.

One man who has been singing his praises is rockstar, Rod Stewart. The Celtic supporting singer was on talkSPORT speaking to Alan Brazil and mentioned the winger as someone who the Bhoys should definitely be looking at in the next transfer window.

“We can’t take our foot off the pedal that’s the thing,” he said to the former Ipswich Town striker. “Dundee could be a problem. Have you seen this young kid McCowan? He plays for Dundee. Wow. He is superb, I hope Celtic have got their eye on him.”

Stewart, 79, was at the Scottish Cup Semi-final at Hampden Park last Saturday afternoon to watch his favourite team and admitted it was a great victory over an Aberdeen side who were really at it.

He added: “They were outstanding I actually felt a bit sorry for the Aberdeen supporters, they deserved a little bit more than that. If they can keep that up next year then they are going to be a top-four team, they were brilliant.”
