Madison Mountaineering Teams Pushing Higher

Madison Mountaineering is an elite mountain guiding company led by Garret Madison. Garrett is among the most accomplished and premiere mountain climbers in the world, have reached the summit of Mt. Everest 13 times. He has also reached the summits of K2, Lhotse, Nuptse, all of the ‘7 Summits’, and many other significant peaks throughout the world. Additionally, Garrett owns several first ascents on mountains never previously climbed.

He and his teams of climbers are currently in the Himalayas. The Himalayas stretch across five countries: Nepal, India, Bhutan, China (including Tibet), and Pakistan. This mountain range boasts the presence of all the fourteen 8,000-meter peaks in the world. Currently, Madison Mountaineering’s teams are focused on Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse. Their teams are pushing toward final ‘rotations’ and summit bids on these impressive and iconic mountains.

Current Progess

The Everest Climbers returned to Everest Base Camp (“EBC”) after a first ‘rotation’ to the upper mountain beyond the treacherous Khumbu Icefall, where they will rest for several days. They will likely compete 1-2 more rotations as high as Camp 3 (approximately 24,500 ft.) prior to making a final push to Everest's summit in the coming weeks.

Their Lhotse Team is currently at Camp 2 (approximately 21,300 ft., and a shared camp with Everest climbing teams). They have completed their rotations, and will push for the Lhotse summit within the next few days.

The Nuptse Climbing Team has also competed their rotations, and are preparing for their final summit bid.

Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse

Mt. Everest is the tallest mountain in the world, standing 29,029 ft. Lhotse, meaning "South Peak" in Tibetan, is the 4th highest mountain in the world, standing 27,940 ft. Connected to Everest by the South Col, Lhotse's summit lies to the south, while its subsidiary peak, Lhotse Shar, extends to the east. The Lhotse Face, is a steep and icy incline that poses a significant challenge for climbers attempting to reach the summits of both Everest and Lhotse.

Nuptse means 'West Peak' in Tibetan and is the 23rd highest peak globally, standing 25,791 ft. Together, Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse create an inspiring panorama in the heart of the Himalayas. Stay tuned for progress-updates on the Madison Mountaineering climbing teams. Safe climbing!
