A Chicago radio station pulled a host off the air after he threatened to dox a social media user and his children.
Via Barrett Media, 670 The Score announced Monday that Dan Bernstein has the week off from the midday show. The station hasn't confirmed if his absence is related to a heated argument over a fish on X.
Last week, Bernstein posted a photo of him holding a northern pike. An X user claimed he caught and killed a female pike preparing to spawn, leading Bernstein to claim he "successfully" released the fish before telling the person to, "Go f*** yourself."
Bernstein continued to escalate the altercation after getting called a "liar."
"I never respond to trolls, but questioning my sportsmanship and conservation awareness sets me off," he wrote. "Wanna fight? I'm a bad enemy."
After getting called a "fat boy," Bernstein threatened to post the other man's personal information.
"Where you at? I have your address and phone numbers," he claimed. "Want it all public? Do I worry you yet?"
When told "not one bit," Bernstein asked if he'd "want your kids involved?"
"Up to you," he warned. "Just say 'I'm sorry for being a d*ck,' and I'll stop."
Before getting taken off the radio, a charity for kids battling cancer severed ties with Bernstein.
"Camp One Step brings happiness, support, strength and hope to hundreds of children each year," the organization said on Sunday. "Recently, Dan Bernstein made comments on social media that don't reflect our mission. As a result, we've removed him from our board of directors."
Former 670 The Score colleague Danny Parkins bashed the charity's "awful decision."
"Dan has raised how much for your worthy cause? Literally over $1 million?" Parkins asked. Between on-air matches, awareness, emceeing, growing poker tourney etc. Actual tangible impact. And bc 'comments on social media' you drop him? This hurts your mission & helps no one."
