Miami Hurricanes WR Malachi Toney has a bright future ahead of him on the gridiron.
The true freshman had a huge season in 2025 for the Canes' breaking onto the scene with 109 catches for 1211 yards ten 10 touchdowns. On Monday night in the national championship game, he was arguably the best player on the field with 10 catches for 122 yards and two scores.
And for Miami fans worried or anyone wondering if they might be able to lure the freshman phenom to their school, the answer — at least according to his mother — is no.
Malachi's mother responded to a fan on Twitter saying that he should enter the transfer portal by saying that they're "home" with the Hurricanes.
Don't get it twisted were home

"Don't get it twisted [we 're] home", she wrote.
It's no surprise that the Toney family would not want to leave South Florida. A photograph of Mark Richt and Malachi surfaced over the last couple of weeks online. Richt was holding a camp as head coach of the Hurricanes, and Toney was a camper there. He was pictured holding up the U next to Richt.
The Hurricanes also hold the hometown trump card as well as the monetary edge that few teams can compete with. The Hurricanes have not been shy about spending in the transfer portal, and they surely have the resources to satisfy Malachi and his family. The extra $23 million the school picked up by advancing to the College Football Playoff national championship game is a big feather in the program's cap as well.
Toney is well on his way to becoming one of the best young players in the sport for at least the next two years. And it looks like Hurricane fans will still be the ones to get to enjoy watching his development over that span.
