Cricket South Africa named a 20-member team for training camp, and the Proteas women will miss the services of all-rounder Marizanne Kapp in the most anticipated upcoming Tri-Nation Series that will feature India and Sri Lanka from 27th April to 11th May at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Cricket South Africa's decision was made as Kapp is expected to begin her individual conditioning block as she prepares for tours and the 50-over World Cup. Kapp played a significant role in the last two years of ICC tournament finals.
The training camp is scheduled from 6 to 14 April at the Centre of Excellence in Tshwane, and three uncapped cricketers joined the team: Karabo Meso, Miane Smit, and Seshnie Naidu. The other team members are Laura Wolvaardt (c), Anneke Bosch, Tazmin Brits, Nadine de Klerk, Annerie Dercksen, Lara Goodall, Ayanda Hlubi, Sinalo Jafta, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Suné Luus, Eliz-Mari Marx, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Tumi Sekhukhune, Nondumiso Shangase, Chloe Tryon, and Faye Tunnicliffe.
“Our objectives are quite simple for the camp. We’ll focus a lot on running between the wicket rotational game and build on that through scenario-based matches, which will help improve awareness. There will also be nets for skill development, and there’ll also be a lot of education around team culture. We’re trying to focus on a holistic player from a culture point of view, skill point of view, and mindset point of view,” Head Coach Mandla Mashimbyi said in a statement.
