Mark Cuban Reveals if Robots Will Take Over the World

One of the many fears with the rapid advancements being made in the development of artificial intelligence is that it will create a situation in which mankind can no longer control it.

We've seen Elon Musk and many others warn against something like that happening, and anyone who has seen The Terminator movies probably fears an AI takeover more than most.

However, billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban, who was a guest on the High Performance podcast recently, isn't subscribing to that possibility.

Instead, he thinks humans will find a way to make artificial intelligence work for them in order to make their daily lives easier.

“I mean, it’s just the very beginning, right? We’re still in the preseason, as people figure the whole thing out," Cuban said. "But as it becomes more advanced — and I’m not saying we’re going to get The Terminator, right?

"I’m not saying there’s going to be robots that are smaller and smarter than people, like the movie [A.I. Artificial Intelligence]," he added. "But we’ll find ways to make our lives better, more interesting, do work better, more effectively, so that we all want this thing."

Cuban goes on to say that, like the early days of personal computers and the internet, for example, the average person may scoff at the idea of utilizing AI in their daily lives, but eventually it could be the norm.

"We’ll find something that’s equivalent for AI," Cuban predicted. "And then, five years after we were using it, people were like, how did I live without it? And people make a lot of money if you can come up with that idea.”

Cuban admitted that he already uses AI for "everything" and explained that it's even capable of writing software, although not as well as a top-notch programmer can.

As is the case with all new, emerging technology, there are both positives and negatives with artificial intelligence. We can only hope it continues to move more toward the positive side than the negative in the years ahead.
