Humility in a physical strength-dominated sport is a rare thing. But the WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry showed a softer side of himself when it came to his daughter Joanna, and one unexpected act of generosity from Brock Lesnar, the World’s Strongest Man, had no problem letting his emotions show.
While talking on Busted Open Radio, Henry shared a conversation he had with Lesnar in the weeks before the Beast Incarnate’s retirement. Lesnar saw Joanna online and noticed that she was performing a lot of the moves he used to.
The exchange didn’t stop there. “Man, my daughter, she’s a Thor. My boys, they play hockey. I don’t have nobody to pass my wrestling on to,” Lesnar told him. “I saw your daughter.” Henry’s response was immediate: tell me where to be, and I’ll bring her.
That invitation was not just a passing comment; it actually turned into a real-time thing on the mat.
“To be generous enough to share your knowledge with somebody is better than money,” Henry said. “It is teaching another person how to be great.”
The same man who once put Henry through an announcing table volunteered to induct his wrestling knowledge into the next generation.
“He know me. He don’t know them like that,” Henry said of Lesnar’s relationship with his kids. “But he was generous enough.”
That’s what got Henry. Knowing Lesnar’s willingness to show up for someone else’s child with no hidden agenda, he just wanted to pass down his knowledge.
In a profession where fear is created in men, perhaps the greatest achievement of Brock Lesnar was teaching a little girl the art of wrestling.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Joanna Henry, daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, is steadily building a career that would make his father and the entire nation proud
Joanna competes in the 145-pound weight class for Austin Vandegrift High School. She ranked among the top female wrestlers as she entered the 2026 UIL State Championships in Texas, going 40-1 on the season.
Joanna raved the quarter finals with a fall over Ishitha Mallidi before falling to Zamariya Williams of Rockwall Heath in the semifinals in a sudden victory. She finished in 3rd place in the tournament.
Joanna closed at a wonderful 54-2 this season. And with this amazing feat, Mark Henry was a proud father and took to social media to celebrate.
“Congratulations to my daughter Joanna! 3rd place finish at 2026 UIL state wrestling championships. What a great season finish 54-2 and 4-1 at state tournament! Great job JoJo!!! She will compete in the freestyle open state championship this summer!”
For the Henrys, wrestling is a family affair, as her brother Jacob is also a wrestler at the University of Oklahoma.
Joanna is still a sophomore. Could Henry’s daughter be the next great name in wrestling’s next generation?
