Matthew Tkachuk puts some bite into this cross-sport prop parlay

NHL rules the schedule tonight, but we also have five NBA games to sift through. In the spirit of bringing these sports together, we've concocted a parlay of two players in advantageous spots this evening.

Following volume for a cross-sport prop parlay

So often when betting player props, the best course of action is to follow volume against a soft opponent. Knowing a player is involved, whether his attempts are successful or not, can give us confidence that a big game is coming.

Jordan Clarkson is the first player who catches the eye, and to be more specific, we're looking at his threes made. The Jazz are hosting the Knicks tonight, and New York is allowing the second-most made three-pointers per game. Naturally, we'd like a Jazz threes prop, and it's Clarkson leading the team in attempts from beyond the arc. He has 7+ attempts from deep in 13 of his 15 games this year, and at home he averages 3.2 made threes per game. Clarkson finished 3-9 from long range the last time the Knicks visited Utah, and tonight his line is just 2.5 made threes.

NBA parlay leg: Jordan Clarkson over 2.5 threes made

As we look to the ice, we need to keep an eye on the Florida Panthers tonight. Only one team is shooting more than Florida's 40.1 shots per game on home ice. Pair this aggressiveness with the opponent tonight, Washington, and it's clear we can expect some Panthers shot on goal props to deliver. The Capitals are allowing 35.1 shots per game on the road, the 10th-highest total. Matthew Tkachuk is the man for us tonight. Tkachuk is averaging 10.2 shot attempts per game over his last five, tops on the team, and he's gone over 3.5 SOG in all five home games this season, averaging 5.4 per game.

NHL parlay leg: Matthew Tkachuk over 3.5 SOG

Together, this prop combo comes in at +179 on DraftKings.

In the news ...

World Cup starts Nov. 20 — The World Cup begins Nov. 20, and we at Yardbarker are getting our prep in. We're breaking down each group from a betting lens and looking at a variety of props, namely the Golden Boot. Harry Kane of England is the current betting favorite to lead the World Cup in total goals, at +750. This is Lionel Messi's last World Cup, and his odds slot in at +1400 to pace the field in goals. Take a look at the 10 best players in this year's tournament as we get ready for group play to begin.

Eagles drop first game of the year, no more unbeatens in the NFL — It was a sloppy game, but Washington held on and handed Philadelphia its first loss of the season on "MNF." It felt like a game the Eagles were actively trying to hand away with turnovers and penalties, but all that matters now is that we have no more unbeaten teams in the NFL. The Chiefs hopped the Eagles on the Super Bowl favorites board. Philly is now +600 to win it all.

MLB names Rookies of the Year — Awards are starting to come out with the baseball season officially over, and the first two to come in are the AL and NL Rookies of the Year. Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez took home the AL honors, showcasing a steady presence at the plate (.284 average), power (28 HRs) and speed (25 stolen bases). Michael Harris of the Braves won NL Rookie of the Year. He too resides in center and had a .297/.339/.514 season for Atlanta.
