Manchester United are hoping to sign off on Jadon Sancho’s departure by the end of the day.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the 25-year-old’s representatives are holding a ‘meeting in London today’ with AS Roma to hash out an agreement that’ll see Sancho join them in the coming days.

United have already ‘accepted’ Roma’s £20.7 million, which sees them take a direct hit on the £73m they forked out back in 20221.

Roma persistent in Jadon Sancho pursuit

He is said to be Gian Piero Gasperini‘s first-choice target to bolster his ranks before deadline day, but the Serie A outfit may turn their attention to Chelsea’s Tyrique George if a deal cannot be agreed this afternoon.

Sancho and George share the same agent, meaning Roma chiefs can go from one set of talks to another in hopes of getting the green light on one acquisition.

It’s thought that the winger has been closed off to the prospect of joining Roma in recent days, although he hasn’t fully rebuffed their proposal. The lack of interest he’s received since returning to United from his Chelsea loan spell means Sancho is having to consider all options on the table.

Who else wants Sancho?

Besiktas, managed by former United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær, are willing to offer him the chance to ply his trade in the Turkish division. However, he views them as something of a last resort and will only opt for the switch if no other links come to fruition on Monday.

Across his four years at Old Trafford, Sancho has recorded a measly 12 goals and six assists in  83 appearances (all competitions).
